Journal Writing Series

Not sure how to stay centered in your busy life? Want to reconnect with your best self?  Join educator Brittany Story for this three-part journal writing series. Some of the techniques explored in this class will repeat material from Ms. Story’s previous writing classes, but we’ll also try out some new exercises as well. You can all three or each course on its own.

March 6th - Journaling for Growth (Community Room)

In this class, we’ll learn the basic principles of journaling, and how writing as a ritual can change your life from the inside out. We’ll talk about short-form journaling (lists, tracking tools) and long-form writing experiences (morning pages, reflective writing). This is a good introduction to journaling if you’ve never tried it.

March 13th - Journaling to Collect Memories (Conference Room)

Life moves so fast. We get caught up in the frenzy of life, and we then look up and realize whole years have passed without us paying much attention. Journaling can help us collect the important moments and learn to be more present. This class will teach writing rituals that help us capture the day-to-day magic and mess of being alive.

March 20th - Journaling to Connect with Your True Self (Community Room)

We spend so much of our lives fulfilling roles: reliable friend, doting parent, helpful child, good citizen… But is this all we really are? Sometimes, we have to ignore aspects of our true nature in order to fit in and be useful. In this class, we give voice to the parts of ourselves that have grown quieter over time, if only in the privacy of our journal.
