Program Description

Event Details

The Earth, Moon & Sun are throwing the ultimate celestial bash — and you’re invited!

Get ready to witness some cosmic magic on April 8th when a total solar eclipse sweeps across North America, creating a path of totality that runs close to the Pittsburgh region! What does that mean? We get a really great seat to a once-in-a-lifetime view in our area.

We invite you to join us on Monday, April 8 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm for a solar-system sized celebration for all-ages.

Experience a variety of activities:

  • crafts
  • coloring pages
  • an educational eclipse display
  • music
  • a live NASA broadcast
  • light refreshments

Solar eclipse safety is our top priority! We are providing protective viewing glasses that allow you to safely observe the sun without harming your eyes, courtesy of the SEAL (Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries) initiative.

A limited supply of glasses will be distributed to everyone - whether or not you are attending the program - starting Friday, March 22. One pair per family; pickup in the Children’s & Adult Departments.

An additional supply will be available to event-goers on the day of the Eclipse Viewing Party.

There is no need to register for this solar fun event, so drop in & join the celebration!
